Jakob Wright approaches making through touch and sound. He enjoys very carefully and slowly moving paint around on paper or canvas with his fingers, feeling and building up the texture he creates. His drawing is a delicate exploration of the sounds that different materials make on a surface – tree charcoal, different grades of graphite, ink – on different weights of paper, listening to the sound of each line or mark from beginning to end. He enjoys having his paper or his canvas held and moved so he can feel its shape and weight as he works, creating a meditative collaborative experience with the person supporting him in his practice.
