Project Art Works makers are currently collaborating with the Carousel House Band to bring together mark making and sound making. This partnership fits with our on giving artists and makers options about their practice and offering different forms of inspiration.
The Brighton-based Carousel House Band is Bethan, Claire, Elliott, Laura, Ollie and Sam, a group of learning-disabled musicians and music facilitators who take on ambitious projects that showcase and extend their musical practice. Our collaboration launched with band members training Project Art Works studio artists on new ways to bring sound into the studios.
Since then, members of the House Band have visited Tuesday and Thursday studios. The groups have got to know each other through working together – drawing and making in response to music, and making sounds to combine with these images and objects. The next stage will link the recorded sounds up to conductive collages, and the House Band are working towards a composition based on the experience.
Thanks to the Carousel House Band for sharing ways of working with us. We look forward to sharing the outputs of the collaboration in due course!
More information on this project coming soon including recordings from the sessions.
