A film featuring five artists from Project Art Works is currently being screened as part of Labour of Love, a new exhibition at The Glucksman Gallery, Cork, Republic of Ireland.

I Hear You by Mikhail Karikis explores the relationship between listening and care. Focusing on interactions between carers and non-verbal people who use Project Art Works’ studio spaces, Karikis invites the viewer to pay attention to the sensitive tuning-in of support workers, artists and family members to those they support – a precarious role that is often invisible, misunderstood and undervalued by society.

Those in the film include Claire Matthews, Sarah Dunne, Eden and Andrew Kötting, Paul Colley, Dan Marshall and Carl and Doreen Sexton.

Labour of Love presents Irish and international artists who explore the responsibility and reality of labour in contemporary society, and how the burden of unpaid and low paid work might be made visible through art, to focus attention on work and services that are often overlooked, undervalued and hidden from public view.”

Labour of Love is open till July 2025.
