Back to The Collective

Helen is a painter and drawer who works on ambitious, large-scale image making. She takes inspiration from animals in the real world and from Disney characters and sci-fi and horror films. Helen combines this source material with images from her imagination.

Image making has always been a big part of Helen’s life; she started drawing at the age of five or six and has continued to pursue creative pursuits. Helen attended Derwen College where she studied Fashion and Design.

Helen works primarily in paint and pastels – particularly enjoying mixing colours – and likes to experiment with a range of different materials and processes from textiles to glass. Since joining the studios at Project Art Works, Helen has used the space to focus on large-scale works, composed of several smaller images which are projected, traced, then linked with a landscape generated in Helen’s imagination.
