Sharif Persaud has participated in several school-based projects with Project Art Works including Project Domain at Torfield School and Walk the Line at Saxon Mount School. Reconnecting with Project Art Works when he left school, Sharif is an integral part of the studio, his unique approach to making work embedded in the organisation’s philosophy. As well as drawing and painting, Sharif’s interests include the weather, hurricanes, tornados, cyclones, typhoons, jobs, hospital programmes, drama, amputations, disabled people and illnesses as well.
During the project In Transit film Sharif collaborated with a studio artist to create a film self-portrait, which was used by East Sussex Social Services Transition Team as a non-paper based reflection that helped Sharif develop his creative voice.
Sharif was recently awarded Silver from Arts Award. See Sharif’s blog of his Arts Award journey here artsawardsproject.com.
