Creative Interventions was a 12-month research project for young people in need of positive and creative solutions to behaviour support.
Each participant had up to 12 sessions available with a 3-hour window allocated for each session. The sessions were based in the Project Art Works studio, were 1:1 with an artist and participant led.
The artists had training in techniques such as Positive Behaviour Support, Person Centred Active Support and Total Communication. The participants had a wide range of high quality materials and equipment at their disposal and were encouraged to use them in an exciting and expansive way.
Specialist consultation around the wider issues that impact on the lives of the participants, such as planning personal provisions and negotiating with social services, was available as part of the project. If no consultation was necessary, this resource translated into 5 additional sessions for the young person.
