About Project Art Works In Residence

Project Art Works has opened a brand-new pop-up gallery, workshop space, and shop in the heart of Hastings till May 2026. Located next door to the Hastings Library, 12 Claremont has been beautifully renovated and refurbished by Hastings Commons. As part of a longstanding alliance with Project Art Works the building will serve as a vibrant, central hub of creativity, inclusion, and community engagement over the next 7 months.

The new space on the ground floor of 12 Claremont, reflects Project Art Works’ vision of greater representation and visibility for learning disabled and autistic artists and their work. Offering a temporary gallery to showcase contemporary art, an accessible creative workshop space, and a shop featuring unique artworks and products, this new venue is a welcoming, dynamic and creative environment for new audiences, artists, families, carers and visitors.

Project Art Works activate the space through In Residence, a rich dynamic creative programme imbedding inclusivity and access to culture within the wider ecosystem of Hastings Commons and its people, creatives, businesses and spaces.  The building hosts a brand-new Changing Place located in the basement, open to the public.

Opening hours

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday, 11.00 – 16.00.
