Tuesday Studios is a highly specialist, person-centred visual art activity that benefits adults with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities. It enables people to take part in an intensive, purposeful creative activity that is catered to their individual needs and preferences. The project promotes integration with other group members, providing opportunities to develop the relationships and networks essential to well-being. With highly personalised support from professional artists, participants will have the opportunity to experience a dynamic working environment and explore their own ways of making art through a range of media, including painting, drawing, print-making, sculpture, installation and video.
The project offers:
- Highly personalised interaction with a specialist artist team who have expertise in a broad range of art materials, techniques and processes
- 1:1 support from artists experienced in Intensive Interaction and Positive Behavioural Support
- ‘Adaptive skills’ development through involvement in wider day to day studio tasks supported by person centred active support
- ‘Individual pathways’ tailored to participants’ choices and preferences to enable them to lead their own creative development
- Development of networks and relationships integral to well-being
- Inclusion in regular cultural and community activities- including gallery visits, outings to parks, nature reserves etc
- Opportunities to show work through online media and exhibitions
