Project Art Works is set to open a brand-new pop up gallery, workshop space, and shop in the heart of Hastings in November 2025. Located in the newly refurbished 12 Claremont managed by Hastings Commons and owned by East Sussex County Council, the space will serve as a vibrant hub for creativity, inclusion, and community engagement.

The new space reflects Project Art Works’ mission to promote inclusion and visibility for disabled artists and their work. Offering a temporary gallery to showcase contemporary art, an accessible workshop space for creative programmes, and a shop featuring unique artworks and products, this new venue will provide an inclusive environment for artists, families, and visitors to connect with creativity.

This activity is being programmed to activate the space while Hastings Commons finds a long term tenant for the ground floor at 12 Claremont. Project Art Works and Hastings Commons announced an alliance in 2018 when the lease for the building was won from East Sussex County Council and this partnership has ensured that refurbishments of the building have included accessibility throughout including a Changing Place in the basement.

Launch Event in November 2025

Please save the date of Saturday 7 November 2025, when we will host a launch event celebrating this exciting new chapter. The event will include an exhibition of works from the Project Art Works archive and a chance to experience the space firsthand.
