As one of five art collectives nominated for the Turner Prize 2021 Project Art Works are exhibiting at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry, 2021 City of Culture, this September.
Project Art Works ways of working are established and explored through collaborative processes with individuals, families and communities.
As an integral part of the exhibition, we will be sharing our practice across 25 days of the exhibition period, through artist residencies, community collaboration and public conversations about art and care.
Artist residencies:
10th – 12th November
30th November – 1st December
Supported access to the archive, Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Saturday 6th November, 11.00 – 14.30 – In the heart of the Project Art Works exhibition our archive holds work that has been made over the past 25 years by neurodivergent artists. The finished works, described by Anna Farley as a “soft entry to hard truths,” can be a catalyst for conversation. Kate Adams, Project Art Works CEO/Artist Director, will be in our exhibition space throughout the day to answer questions, pull out pieces of work from the archive and share some of these stories.
Cosmologies of Care, Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Friday 12th November – Cosmologies of Care is a day of drawing and mapping personal testimonies of caregivers, caring relationships both paid and unpaid and the multiple interdependencies of our lives. Find out more here.
‘Where is the Art?’ In association with DOCUMENTA 15 (2022), Saturday 27 November (Booking details coming soon)
Socially engaged artistic practice creates different relationships between artists, artworks and audiences. The art may exist in the process of exchange and collaboration rather than artefact. This event forms part of a conversation taking place as part of our work with DOCUMENTA 15 2022.
