Over 2 weeks in June 2014, Project Art Works delivered a one-day staff awareness workshop (2 sessions in total) and two and a half days of practical workshops (5 sessions in total). Two days of practical workshops were based in the main gallery space. An additional half-day evaluation was also completed on site with participating Fabrica staff.

Participants included:

  • Students from Chailey Heritage, Chailey
  • Young people with complex needs and personalized provisions from across West and East Sussex
  • Students from Downs View Link College, Brighton
  • Students from Hillside school, Brighton

The New Collaborations project aimed to promote inclusive, visual art and cultural opportunities for young people aged between 16 and 25 years old who have severe intellectual disability and complex needs in the southeast region (East Sussex, Milton Keynes and Brighton and Hove). Stage 1 of the project took place at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, during November and December 2013. Stage 2 of the project took place at MK Gallery, Milton Keynes, in March 2014. Stage 3 of the project took place at Fabrica, Brighton, in June 2014.

The New Collaborations project was funded through a grant from Artswork/Bridge SE and additional support through Project Art Works from the Monument Trust.
