The third meeting of the Peer Support Network will be held on Wednesday 13th April at Project Art Works HQ. Please note change of venue. The meeting will be attended by Richard Lewis, ESCC Strategic Commissioning Manager Learning Disability, and Steve Veveers ESCC Strategic Commissioning Manager Learning Disabilities Supported Housing. In his first solo exhibition, Sam Smith in collaboration with Project Art Works and blackShed Gallery, presents a unique new body of work that is part painting, part sculpture and part installation.

Generally speaking there were two kinds of Zen painters in traditional Japan: painters who became monks and monks who, for whatever reason, took up painting. The former would have undergone an extensive training over many years under the strict guidance of a master, their work characterised by a dexterity with the brush and gradated black ink together with an exquisite compositional finesse.

Sam Smith’s paintings first came to public attention through their inclusion in the exhibition ‘In the Realm of Others’ at the De la Warr Pavilion in 2015. Building on his developing profile as an artist, Project Art Works are delighted to announce Smith’s first solo exhibition consisting of new paintings for blackSHed Gallery . The exhibition will open 2nd April 2016 and run until the 14th May 2016.
