  Edited together from previous works (Tessellate, Modus Operandi, Illuminating the Wilderness) The film cuts between the Project Art works studio in Hastings and a filmed expedition to Affric in Scotland. It shows people making work within their familiar studio setting alongside their investigation of a remote glen in the Scottish Highlands. The film brings together the individuals, families, support teams and artists at the heart of the project Art Works collective.
  
  This film was shown as part of our Turner Prize exhibition in 2021.

• OUT AND ABOUT ON LOCKDOWN

  Out and About on Lockdown is a video diary documenting the bi-weekly connection between support workers and artists, featuring Sharif Persaud, Tom Lepora and Tim Corrigan.
  Currently unable to access the studio, the three meet each Tuesday and Thursday to spend time together in and around Hastings, recording their activities on phones. Set against the backdrop of COVID-19, the episodes reveal moments of connection and humour, whilst offering a unique insight into the impact of lockdown on neuro-minorities. The outings, which were initially conceived to support one individual, quickly became a crucial part of lockdown life for all three, providing a link to the outside world, exercise, connection and weekly routines.

• All Done Up

  An edited version of an original film made by Project Art Works with the Hastings Pier Charity.
  
  This film was submitted to the De La Warr Pavilion's short film competition Idea Of A Pier in 2018 and was short listed.
• We All Have A Tree In Us

  In late summer 2017 Project Art Works spent 8 days in Tate Exchange Liverpool.
  
  We ran a week of inclusive workshops and conversations promoting art as a means of connection with, and for people with complex needs and public audiences.
  
  To reflect the wilderness element of EXPLORERS we asked public audiences to draw a tree from their imagination. Over 300 drawings were made during the week. “We all have a tree in us”.

• The Mask

  The Mask is a short film about autism and identity featuring writer and director Sharif Persaud. As he journeys along a coastal footpath, Sharif describes what it means to have autism while all the time wearing his favourite celebrity mask. He finally arrives at his destination where he comes face to face with his alter-ego.

• Doreen and Carl

  Artist Carl Sexton's mother Doreen Sexton talks about their family's experience of the Project Art Works studio.
• Modus Operandi

  Made as part of the 'In the Realm of Others' exhibition, Modus Operandi focusses on the makers of the Parachute Club, which is one of several in house programmes run from Project Art Works’ studio base. It shows the makers in their familiar setting within the studio along with artists who support them. The film reveals some of the processes behind the work they create and provides an insight into the dynamic within the studio.

• No Church in The Wild

  No Church in the Wild is edited from recordings made while in the company of four young men with autism as they travel through the Sussex countryside. The protagonists finally arrive at Ivy Church in Romney, a building which dates back to the 14th century and is one of the last operational churches in England without electricity. The film explores the concepts of congregation and sanctuary through the sensitive and diverse investigations of the open countryside and the church by the four young men. While it reveals the often unconventional and intimate interactions between the participants as they negotiate their journey, the film questions more widely what it means to be a group and to feel safe.

• Matt Fricker

  IN TRANSIT created opportunities for artists and 46 young people with complex needs to collaborate on individual film portraits over an eight year period to 2013.
  
  The films describe each young person in a way that is personal, poetic and expansive integrating art into the processes of consultation and person centre planning during transition services. The films played a role in the future lives of the young people involved by revealing their individuality and means of accessing the world. They also informed social care providers, support workers and others involved in planning and providing services about their lives and aspirations.

• One Year Later

  ONE YEAR LATER is a video and sound installation in two parts, that documents an exploration of the Jerwood building by four members of the Project Art Works’ Tuesday Studios group. They visited the building when it was ‘uninhabited’ prior to its opening in 2012 and a year later during a major transition involving a rehang of the collection and new exhibition.
  
  This work is a portrait of the Jerwood Gallery as a building – a backstage version; devoid of artefacts. It is also a portrait of four young men and of others with whom they have significant relationships. These four young men are nonconformists and comfortable with the simple freedom of moving around a warm, uncluttered and open building – looking out, pausing or sitting, testing different sounds and echoes, running the length of a corridor or touching the different surfaces, materials and shapes of the building.
