Project Art Works’ Supported Studios enable adults with complex needs to develop their creative practice alongside an Artist Mentor and explore their potential as artists.

We have created a studio setting where a diverse cohort of individuals, with the support of their family and key people in their lives, can further their learning and take more control over their own trajectory as artists. The studio promotes a group ethos, with participants’ developing their personal practice and adaptive skills whilst supporting and encouraging their peers.

What we can offer:

  • Mentoring in the development of personal creative practice
  • Access to quality materials and equipment
  • Support and training in the preparation of materials and use of a range of media
  • Personalised studio space and locker for materials
  • Professional-quality cataloguing and archiving of work
  • Opportunities to share and promote artwork online and through open submission exhibitions
  • Group and individual exhibitions organized by Project Art Works
  • Group visits and trips to regional art exhibitions

The project takes place every Wednesday, between 10.30am and 3.30pm, for 36 weeks of the year. It is funded through a major award from The National Lottery Community Foundation (formerly the Big Lottery) and places are offered at a highly subsidized cost to participants. These are £50 for a full day place and £25 for a half-day place.
